SHIPBOARD ENGINE OPERATION
(CADET PROGRAM)


Course Description:

This course on shipboard engine operation covers the comprehensive competencies required or expected from engine personnel working on board commercial vessels serving the international trade. The modules enumerated below shall be given appropriate time allocation both for lecture or theoretical preparation and for practical application of the competencies.

The specific shipboard operational activities identified in this course shall prepare the trainees to perform and deliver the necessary skills and competencies needed for  safe operation of  vessel and for the protection of  marine environment as well. The modules will touch on ships maintenance such as Basic arc Welding, Gas Welding and Cutting; Paint works, types and application.  It will also deal with Engine Classifications and engine room routines using Gauges and Measuring Instruments; Workshop tools/skill  and the actual fabrication development.

    • Welding (Electric and Gas) and Gas Cutting
    • Lathe Machine Operation
    • Workshop Tools / Skills and Fabrication
    • Gauges and Measuring Instruments
    • Engine Classification
    • Overhauling of Fuel Oil Purifier, Pumps and Valves

Candidates: Open for engine personnel. with a minimum numbers of (5) participants and with a                      maximum numbers of (25) participants.
