ENGINE ROOM WORKSHOP PRACTICE


Course Description:

This short course on Engine Room Workshop Practice was designed to improve the knowledge and understanding of safe practice and machinery operation for engine room staff. The modules enumerated below shall be given appropriate time allocation both for lecture or theoretical preparation and for practical application of the competencies. The specific engine room workshop practice activities identified in this course shall prepare the trainees to perform and deliver the necessary skills and competencies needed for the safe operation of the vessel and for the protection of the marine environment as well.

The modules will touch on ships maintenance such as Workshop safety and Housekeeping, Basic Lathe Machine Operation and Basic Welding and Gas Cutting.   It will also deal with the proper use Power and Hand tool,  Gauges and Measuring Instruments; Repair and Maintenance of Auxiliary Machineries and General Dismantling and Assembling Procedures like Bearing (Ball and Roller Bearing), Fuel Oil Purifier,  Pumps (Centrifugal and Gear Pumps) and different kinds of Valves are also tackled in this course.

    • Repair and Maintenance of Auxiliary Machineries and General Dismantling and Assembling Procedures
    • Lathe Machine Operation
    • Welding and Gas Cutting Procedure

Candidates: Open for all engine personnel. with no minimum numbers of participants and with a                      maximum numbers of (10) participants.

Course Duration: 3 Days (24 hours)
