BASIC TRAINING FOR BOSUN

Course Description:

This course is designed to prepare the deck ratings particularly Able Seamen to become an efficient deck handler and an effective leader.  The course covers competencies, tasks and responsibilities that required or expected from them as an aspiring bosun.

The modules enumerated below shall be given appropriate time allocation both for lecture or theoretical preparation and for practical application of the competencies.

The module will touch on ship’s maintenance such as Safety on Board and Housekeeping, Leadership on Board, Staging and Rigging; Painting and Surface Preparation.  It will also deal with Cargo Works like Rope and Wire Rope Splicing, Safe Mooring Practice, the process of Cargo Handling and Stowage.

Candidates: Open for bosun. with a minimum numbers of (5) participants and with a maximum                      numbers of (10) participants.
